Why this program exists
For too many of our students, a lack of reliable transportation is the barrier that stands between them and their future. It’s the missed class, the job interview that never happened, the opportunity they couldn't reach.
That’s why we launched the Driven to Achieve Car Scholarship—a program that turns car donations into momentum. Every vehicle gifted helps a young adult move forward in school, show up for work, and build the life they’re striving for.
This isn’t just about getting from point A to point B. It’s about unlocking everything in between.
Who We’re Driving Forward
Our scholarship supports young adults 18+ who are actively pursuing meaningful educational or vocational goals—including adult diplomas, high school graduation, trade programs, and more.
These students work with social workers, advocates, or case managers. Many are overcoming instability, trauma, or financial hardship.
But they all have something in common:
A deep commitment to shaping a better life. And they just need a little help getting there.
Each scholarship recipient receives a donated vehicle, along with guidance and resources to take on the responsibility of ownership.
Here’s what it takes to be eligible:

Be 18+ with a valid driver’s license.

Have a defined educational goal supported by an educational advocate.

Show readiness to manage car expenses (insurance, gas, maintenance).

Have safe, legal access to parking.

Be in a stable environment as determined by their support team.

Be a youth actively involved in our Achievements Unlocked program.

The Driven to Achieve Car Scholarship isn’t just a Boosted Diplomas program—it’s a reflection of what’s possible when a community comes together to support its youth.
Local mechanic shops donate time and services to ensure every car is safe and road-ready. Donors and small businesses contribute fuel cards, accessories, and funds to help cover insurance and registration. And advocates and mentors walk side by side with our students, ensuring they’re supported emotionally and logistically throughout the journey.
We’re also building partnerships with insurance providers to help cover policy costs and empower our students to manage ownership responsibilities with confidence.
Every car we give is backed by a network of people who believe in what’s possible when barriers are removed and opportunity is handed over—keys first.

When Lauren donated her beloved first car, she did more than just make a generous gift—she made our entire vehicle scholarship program possible. Her belief in the mission and willingness to give so meaningfully allowed us to pilot this initiative and directly change the life of a foster youth.
We’re deeply grateful to Lauren for not only sparking this program, but for showing what it means to turn a personal milestone into a powerful act of impact. Here’s her story:
"When it came time to part with my car, the very first one I’ve had since I was 18, I didn’t want to see it scrapped or undervalued. It still had life left in it, and I knew it could mean something to someone else. I realized there was a different kind of impact this car could have, not by being sold for parts, but by directly helping a foster youth gain access to reliable transportation.
As someone who works in fundraising, I believe deeply in the importance of giving back. I ask others to make a difference every day, and that means I have a responsibility to do the same. Donating my car was one way I could live out those values, and knowing it would help a student strive for a better future made the decision easy.
The donation process was incredibly simple. The Boosted Diplomas team made everything seamless, from handling paperwork to clearly communicating how the car would directly support a young person. I felt supported every step of the way.
To know that this car, after nearly 20 years, will live on as a vehicle of opportunity is one of the most meaningful things I’ve ever done.
