Sami Garcia is in her 2nd year of her masters program at the University of Nevada, Reno studying Speech Pathology. She received her Bachelor’s of Science in Speech Language Pathology & Audiology at UNR in 2024. She has always had a passion for working with children and plans on working with middle and high schoolers as an SLP.
Throughout her time at the university, Sami has gained valuable experience in student services. Before changing her major to Speech Pathology & Audiology she was an elementary education major with a specialization in special education. This experience allowed her to take many classes on early childhood development and teaching strategies.
When Sami isn’t studying, she enjoys painting, thrifting, and exploring new music. Sami has been working with children ages 6- 16 as a nanny, tutor, and mentor for about 6 years. She enjoys creating study plans that are specific to the student’s needs. For her, the most important thing is acknowledging that not everyone learns the same way and that we all learn from our mistakes.
